Kelly K. Garner, D.M.A. is Assoc. Professor, Coordinator of Commercial Music and Director of the M.M. in Music Technology program at Union University. Prior to 2019, Dr. Garner spent 10 years as Asst. Professor of Commercial Voice at Belmont University and has spent 31 years in Nashville as an artist, staffwriter, publisher, studio owner, producer, artist developer, author, and choral arranger. In addition to winning 6 Downbeat Awards, she has been nominated for Dove Awards, has two RIAA Gold Records and a BMI Award for Most Performed Gospel Song.
Her degrees include a D.M.A. in Jazz Performance with Music Tech cognate (University of Miami), a M.A. in Jazz Studies (Middle Tennessee State University), a B.M. in Commercial Voice (Belmont University) and a B.S.Ed in Math Education (Auburn University).
She has three book publications: “So You Want To Sing Country” (Roman/Littlefield), “Yes and Amen” (Brentwood- Benson-choral print) and “Voice Teachers Cookbook” (Meredith Music Publications). Dr. Garner also continues to present clinics for the Jazz Educators Network, NATS and other academic institutions regularly.
